Cabinetmakers Choice is behind the cabinetry in five of Ronnie & Georgia’s rooms, including the winning guest bedroom, kid’s bedroom and living and dining rooms, as well as the sitting room and master bedroom. Geelong’s GT Magazine writes about their experience on The Block.
Geelong company Cabinetmakers Choice chippies have been working tirelessly behind the scenes on this year’s series of The Block, helping people contestants Ronnie & Georgia to competition front runners.
The company is behind the cabinetry in five of Ronnie & Georgia’s rooms, including the winning guest bedroom, kid’s bedroom and living and dining rooms, as well as the sitting room and master bedroom.
Their work has received high praise from judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whittaker, and follows on from their contribution to the 2016 series of the popular Channel Nine Program.
Cabinetmakers Choice owners Nigel Robinson and Chris Adamko were thrilled to be invited back to participate in the current series.
“We decided to work solely for one couple this year,” Nigel says.
“It’s fascinating just to see how it all operates and it’s something we are really proud to be involved in.”
Their work has included the popular shaker style wardrobes in Ronnie and Georgia’s guest bedroom and kids room, and Nigel says there has been an increase in interest in the style in recent weeks.
“A lot of our inquiries at the moment are related to The Block,” he says.
“When people see your work and go ‘I love that, how do I get it?’ it is a great reward for a lot of hard work.
“Especially considering that increasingly people are becoming off-the-shelf buyers. So when you say these products are custom made and it generates that interest, it’s fantastic, it really is.”
Cabinetmakers Choice also installed dressing room cabinetry and a bespoke bedhead in the master bedroom.
The pieces received overwhelming positive comments from the judges, as did the longline custom-made entertainment unit in the living room. .
“Before the show started we didn’t know which contestants we were working with,” Nigel says.
“You don’t know what these people are going to be like. So for us to be aligned with the winners of so many rooms is absolute gold.”
“Ronnie and Georgia work so hard and did so much work – that’s something that a lot of people probably don’t realise. Ronnie survived on about four hours sleep and Georgia has a great dye for detail.”
Nigel says his favourite room to be involved in ono the current series was the couple’s sitting room which featured charcoal toned Colourpyne cabinetry by Gunnersen.
“Something like what we did in that room would normally take about four-and-a-half weeks, we did that in four days,” Nigel said.
“People don’t realise the full magnitude of what you do.”
“The whole experience is pretty incredible and the conditions we work in an under a lot of the time are crazy. But it’s a lot of fun and it’s an absolute pleasure to work on the show.”
